We Became Willing
Step 6: “Were entirely ready to remove these defects of character."
At the beginning of treatment, it’s rare that someone is ENTIRELY READY and WILLING to be free from addictive behavior. Instead of asking one’s Higher Power for willingness, a more common and realistic prayer is “Give me the willingness to be willing to be willing...”
Every moment spent in recovery is an active choice. Going to treatment, waking up each morning, going to groups, talking to other addicts, staying sober one day at a time... all of these actions are seemingly small by themselves but as a whole add up to verifiable change. A new life. A better life.
Willingness starts when we open ourselves to trying to do things a different way, even when it’s not easy or comfortable. Over time we are able to see our own shortcomings with better clarity and resolve to change. This is the essence of willingness in recovery. To stay in recovery means to stay willing to change ourselves for the better one day at a time, every day.

Addiction impacts everyone in the family unit. Family therapy offers the opportunity to have someone listen to how the client’s actions have impacted the lives of those around them. If relational problems are driving loved ones away, intervention strategies are formulated with the client’s recovery in mind. This relationship between the family member and therapist leads to a more round plan for change.
Some of the features of family therapy at Santé include:
- Intervention sessions when treatment is difficult
- Individual and couples therapy for family members
- Weekly family night (at no cost) with psycho-educational lectures and process groups

As seen on Psychiatry & Behavirol Health Learn Network, by Tom Valentino, Senior Editor
Fighting back against deceptive forces within the addiction treatment industry that are attempting to profit off of her company’s name is a routine part of the job for Hollie Higgins, business development director for Santé Center for Healing in Argyle, Texas.
In the span of just a few hours on Feb. 22, Higgins says she filed a trademark complaint with Google over another company’s unauthorized use of Santé’s name in a paid search result, sent a cease-and-desist letter to a website offering reviews of treatment centers but listing misleading contact information that directed viewers to an unaffiliated call center, and dealt with another site with a directory of providers that required the companies listed to pay a fee to have their correct contact information included.
