  • Spring Athletics and Club Registrations Now Available to View on Parent Portal - Links to register can be accessed by clicking the button at the top of the main portal page.


  • The Windward School Closed to Students on February 16, 19, 20 - The School will be closed from Friday, February 16 to Tuesday, February 20 for Presidents' Day and parent-teacher conferences (PTCs). Regularly scheduled classes will resume on Wednesday, February 21.


  • Portal Maintenance on Saturday, February 17 from 4-10 p.m. - Please note that certain aspects of the portal may be unavailable during this time.


  • FREE WI Workshop on February 29 - “The Reading Writing Connection: A Powerful Partnership” with Betsy MacDermott-Duffy, Director of Language Arts and Instruction at The Windward School. Visit the portal to register.

  • Thursday, February 15: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. In-Person
  • Friday, February 16: 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. In-Person
  • Tuesday, February 20: 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Remote
  • Wednesday, February 21: 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Remote

DIVISIONAL NEWS

Manhattan Lower School


  • Manhattan Celebrates Heart Month - Our PE department will highlight students' awareness of being heart healthy through fitness. The unit will culminate with Hoops for Heart and Jumps for Heart fundraising events on February 29. Students can donate $2 to participate. All proceeds will go to The American Heart Association. In addition, that day will be a wear-red dress-down day.
  • Valentine's Day at Windward! - February 14 will be a red, pink, and white dress-down day. If your child wishes to exchange valentines with their classmates, kindly ensure that they bring in a Valentine for each student in their homeroom class. For valentines containing edible treats, please be mindful of the School's nut-free policy.
  • The Chinese Cultural Center will visit MLS on Thursday, February 15 - Students will watch members of the NY Chinese Cultural Center perform a Dragon Dance and learn about the history of the dance.
  • Grades 1 and 2 Stamford Nature Center Field Trip on February 28 - Permission slips and lunch order forms are due February 21. Click here for an itinerary.
  • Friday Trip to Off-Broadway Play on March 1 - Students in grades 5-8 will have the option of taking a Friday evening trip to see 360 All-Stars performed at the New Victory Theater. More information to come.

Manhattan Middle School

  • Middle School Dance and Celebration on February 29 from 6 - 8 p.m. - The event’s theme is Winter Wonderland and those attending are asked to wear smart casual attire. This is a chaperoned after-school activity to be supervised by Windward faculty & staff. Activities include, but are not limited to: foosball, skeeball, photo booths, karaoke, cornhole, DJ, and giant Connect-Four. Food and drink options will include: popcorn, cotton candy, hotdogs, pretzels, and a hot chocolate station. Permission slips coming soon.
  • Friday Trip to Off-Broadway Play on March 1 - Students in grades 5-8 will have the option of taking a Friday evening trip to see 360 All-Stars performed at the New Victory Theater. More information to come.

Westchester Lower School



  • In February, We Will Observe Heart Health Month - PE classes will be engaging in grade-level challenges throughout the month.
  • Valentine's Day at Windward! - February 14 will be a red, pink, and white dress-down day. If your child wishes to exchange valentines with their classmates, kindly ensure that they bring in a Valentine for each student in their homeroom class. For valentines containing edible treats, please be mindful of the School's nut-free policy.
  • Grades 1 and 2 Stamford Nature Center Field Trip on February 28 - More information and permission slips coming soon.

Westchester Middle School


  • Get Fit February at WMS - Our physical education department will highlight student’s awareness of being heart healthy through fitness. The unit will culminate with a Hoops for Heart basketball fundraising contest during the week of February 26, which will occur during Homeroom and Focus. Students can donate $3 to participate. All proceeds will go to The American Heart Association. In addition, all students will have a dress-down day, on Monday, February 26 to kick off this event.
  • Thursday Trip to Broadway Play and Dinner on February 15 - Students will have the option of taking a Thursday evening trip to see Little Shop of Horrors and have dinner. More information to come.
  • Friday Trip to Off-Broadway Play and Dinner on March 1 - Students will have the option of taking a Friday evening trip to see 360 All-Stars performed at the New Victory Theater and have dinner. More information to come.

DEIB NEWS

The New York Chinese Cultural Center visited the Westchester Lower School on Thursday, February 8 in observance of the Lunar New Year. Students in grades 1, 2, and 3 participated in an interactive and culturally rich presentation where representatives of the Cultural Center gave students a demonstration of a few aspects of Chinese culture. These included the Dragon Dance and Kung Fu techniques. Students also learned how to say "Xīnnián kuàilè" (Happy New Year in Mandarin). Manhattan Lower School students in grades 1, 2, and 3 will have the same experience on February 15. To those celebrating the Lunar New Year, may good fortune and health fall upon you and your family!
