U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee, and many other state and local officials joined us July 26 in celebrating the opening of two affordable-housing developments in Providence: Sheridan Small Homes and King Street Commons.

Together, King Street Commons and Sheridan Small Homes represent a nearly $20-million investment in Providence, providing more than 60 units of housing. Read more about these innovative projects.
D'Abate Summer Camp
gearing up for the fall
The D'Abate 21st Century Learning School, in partnership with Brown University — a 6-week summer program — was filled to capacity. And the fall program is slated to begin in mid-October. The program is intended to help 175 students build academic skills and develop socially and emotionally, while teaching the value of responsible decision-making and critical thinking.
Leader of The Harlem Children's Zone Tours our Developments and Meets our Community Partners
Geoffrey Canada, founder and president of the Harlem Children's Zone, met our community partners and toured our developments on July 20. Also joining the tour were HCZ CEO Kwame Owusu-Kesse, Managing Director Hayling Price, and Director of Research Wendy Viola.

During the visit, we took a driving tour of ONE|NB's properties, held a staff discussion about the meaning of "built environment" and its relevance to economic mobility, met with policy makers and statewide leaders, and shared best practices about place-based community development.

Our work is deeply inspired by HCZ and its decades-long commitment to investing in place, building community, and honoring the dignity and potential of every individual. Thank you to HCZ and all our community partners for participating and for enhancing our collaboration. It is a privilege to engage with so many brilliant thinkers, and to share in this work together.

We then shared lunch and a fun team-building event at Colt State Park in Bristol. Meet our team!
