Big Win for Grassroots Organizing and Public Education
Student Opportunity Act Signed by Governor Baker
After years of grassroots organizing, we WON! The Massachusetts Foundation Budget, which has been underfunding schools by billions of dollars, will finally be updated. Yesterday, Governor Baker signed the Student Opportunity Act into law, guaranteeing critical funds for public schools across the Commonwealth.
What felt almost impossible a few years ago has become a reality, and young people have been at the center of this fight from day one. As a member of the Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance,
we worked in coalition with teachers, parents, and other young people to ensure equitable public education funding across Massachusetts.
