The Youth Resource Center is now open!

On Monday, July 15th, we had the pleasure of hosting the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our Youth Resource CenterLieutenant Governor Pamela Evette was in attendance to help us commemorate the occasion.

The Youth Resource Center, our newest program, is Greenville's first program dedicated to providing resources, case management, drop-in services, and rapid re-housing services to homeless and runaway youth ages 17-24.

The Center's primary day facility features laundry access, showers, comfortable furniture for use during drop-in hours, a kitchen serving a daily hot meal, a computer lab, a donations closet, and on-site counseling.

Thanks to a strong community collaborative, we will also be partnering with medical, mental health, legal aid partners and other community volunteers, including barbers, tutors, employment counselors, and more.

"There are young people in Greenville and beyond who will spend tonight on the streets or in unsafe, unstable situations," says Jed Dews, Executive Director of Pendleton Place. "Many of these youth have experienced a lifetime of trauma, time in foster care, and run-ins with juvenile justice, and it is unacceptable to let them slip through the cracks. The Youth Resource Center will offer them a source of hope and a starting point for permanent housing and self-sufficiency."

We are incredibly proud to launch our Youth Resource Center and can only begin to anticipate the impact of our efforts to end youth homelessness throughout the Upstate, but we can't do this alone!  We are still in need of sponsors to provide a dryer, window shades for the computer lab, and a kitchen cabinet unit.  If you are able to help meet any of these needs, please contact Josh Crocker at (864) 516-1220.

Donor Spotlight

We are excited to announce that the F.W. Symmes Foundation has awarded Pendleton Place grant funding to purchase a new car for our Smith House residents! We are excited for the much-needed addition of a safe vehicle, which we will use to provide comprehensive driver's education to the teenage girls in foster care that we serve.  Thank you, F.W. Symmes Foundation, for making this possible!
Volunteer Spotlight

We are truly grateful for the volunteers from HTI  who came out and prepared our facilities for the launch of our Youth Resource Center.  This amazing team spent three hours on a Saturday morning cleaning the interior and exterior of the building to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of homeless and runaway youth in a clean and inviting space. Thank you, HTI, for your hard work!
