The Connecticut Lung Association Needs Your Help!

The Public Health Committee bill about prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products is going to be heard on Monday, February 1stThey need people to testify or submit testimony. They really need a strong community showing and would appreciate you sharing your voice. Statistics are helpful, but stories are VERY powerful. If you have volunteers or others engaged who would be willing to share their stories, please ask them to. If you're interested in participating, contact Ruth Canovi.

Connecticut received two Fs from the American Lung Association for failing to use tobacco industry settlement funds on smoking prevention programs and doing nothing to stop sales of flavored tobacco products.

“It’s not the kind of report card I would want my kids to bring home,” said Dr. David Hill, a Waterbury-based pulmonologist who serves as one of the association’s national spokespersons.

Dr. Michelle Thompson knows a lot about self-care. A family medicine physician in Vienna, Ohio, she specializes in lifestyle and integrative care, using both conventional and alternative therapies to help her patients heal. She also teaches medical personnel how to prevent and treat burnout.

The flip-flopping of announcements and drip-feeding of information might be something we’ve come to expect, but it still hurts. If you feel like you’re teetering on the edge right now, you’re not alone.
