Parashat Noach
Genesis 6:9-11:32
Parashat Noach tells the stories of the Flood and Noah's Ark, of Noah's subsequent drunkenness and cursing of Canaan, and of the Tower of Babel.
At the outset of the portion, we read "Noah was a righteous person in his generation." How can each of us be righteous in our own generations? What does righteousness look like for each one of us during the span of our lifetime?

Essential Jewish Conversation
Monday, October 25th
7:30 PM Via Zoom
Call it a symposium, a salon, a forum or a debate, Jewish life has long been centered around a vibrant exchange of ideas and viewpoints – a sacred conversation meant to bring meaning to our lives. This year we will continue our exploration of the Jewish perspective on a range of beliefs and values.
The first topic we will be exploring is the Jewish perspective on Abortion.
Future conversations will take place on: 11/22, 12/20, 1/24, 2/21, 3/28, 4/25, 6/20

Rosh Chodesh for Women and Men
Monday, November 8th
7:30 PM Via Zoom
Chapters 1 and 2
This past Monday night we held our first Rosh Chodesh class of the year. Special thanks to Nancy Collamer for facilitating a discussion on the delightful and poignant film "Lives Well Lived." Moreover, we extend our thanks to Joan Green for chairing our program team and who led us to select 30 Lessons for Living, by Karl Pillemer, our core text for our Rosh Chodesh gathering. All of our discussions are "stand alone" and you do not have to have read the book to participate. Members and guests are welcome!
The book relates life lessons learned, as he interviews older people and organizes their responses in categories to which we can all relate.
This month, we will discuss:
Chapter 1, Who are the Wisest Americans and What Can they Tell Us? and
Chapter 2, Great Together, Lessons for a Happy Marriage.
The wisdom gleaned from people who’ve lived and learned through their lives will often mirror our own experiences, confirm conclusions we’ve come to, and, perhaps, show us that ~ in spite of self-doubts ~ we’ve done our homework pretty well.
The next book discussions will be on: 12/6, 1/3, 1/31, 2/28, 4/4, 5/2, 6/6

Interfaith Blood Drive
Saturday, November 6th
8:00 AM- 12:45 PM
Our next Interfaith Blood Drive is just seven weeks away on Saturday, November 6th at First Presbyterian Church. The American Red Cross anticipates that blood needs will continue to be high, especially as the holiday season approaches. Shir Ami has been a long-time supporter of this community-based drive, so let’s show up in force - we are a small but mighty group, "punching above our weight” when it comes to Tikkun Olam! The drive will be conducted under the COVID-19 protocols, i.e., masks, social distancing, sanitizing, and pre-packaged snacks only.
So, what is stopping you? Become a blood donor and give the Gift of Life! Appointments
and using the refined search Sponsor code FPCG - please let Barbara Salop, [email protected] know if you need any help signing up.
And THANKS for participating in this mitzvah!
