National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week is an annual observance that recognizes volunteers' vital support in their communities. It was established by a Presidential Proclamation in 1974 to highlight the various opportunities available for those interested in volunteering.
Volunteers play an important role in Mosaic's mission, vision and values. They are wonderful examples of what it means to have a "servant's heart." Whether serving lunch to an infusion patient at Cancer Care, assisting with Mosaic Life Care Auxiliary Gift Shop purchases, providing warm greetings at the door, hosting emPowerU TV or escorting patients, our volunteers help us achieve our goals with every encounter and project they are assigned.
Glen Taylor, manager of Guest Relations, said he has witnessed volunteers' drive to help people.
"I am grateful for our volunteers in that they enhance our services with their time and talent," Taylor said. "Each has a way of distinctively making their mark on patients, visitors and caregivers."
Mosaic Life Care Volunteer Services thanks our volunteers for their commitment to helping our team of caregivers provide the best and safest care.

Circuit One:
Northeast Nodaway
On March 25, we welcomed 16 seventh graders from Northeast Nodaway RV for Circuit One of our Civic Engagement Immersions.
Circuit One is a student-led, problem-based learning experience. Our professionally trained facilitators present students with challenges and guide them through discussions, discovery and consensus building. Student groups then present their findings to their peers and the emPowerU council.
Northeast Nodaway educator said she appreciated the opportunity to get students outside of the classroom.
"It was a good opportunity for students to get outside of the school walls and work on teamwork, collaboration and solve a real-world problem," she said.
We look forward to welcoming the Bluejays back to emPowerU for their Circuit Two Immersion.

e2 Fellowship
Tuesday, March 30, was the final session of e2 Fellowship for the 2020-2021 academic year.
On this day, students heard ethical dilemma stories from Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, Missouri Western State University president and Sara Juarez, JD, Mosaic Life Care director of risk and legal.
Samaria T., St. Joseph Christian student participant, said she enjoyed learning from others during the last session.
"Debating is hard and talking with people with different opinions is not always easy," Samaria said. "Today, I learned that it is possible and we can get somewhere if we listen and support each other."
This year's e2 Fellowship included: Albany R-III, Bishop LeBlond High School, East Buchanan C-I, Jefferson C-123, Northeast Nodaway R-V, Riverside USD 114, South Holt R-I, St. Joseph Christian and Troy Unified School District.
e2 Fellowship welcomes teams of three, two high school students and one adult sponsor, in the Foundation’s 31 county service region. This challenge-based program enhances the skills of emerging and experienced leaders. It is designed to deepen the commitment to education and develop the skills necessary for creating healthy and thriving communities.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees has approved funding to make the e2 Fellowship program free of charge through the next five years.

Facility Rental
Mosaic Life Care Foundation's emPowerU campus and Think Ahead Works satellite facility are available for regional organizations to rent.
The locations offer multiple spaces to reserve for meetings or events. Settings are available for small or large groups, with flexible seating arrangements and technology options.
Cindy Wells with Leadership Northwest Missouri said our Innovation Room was wonderful for their group.
"We were able to spread out and follow social distancing guidelines but still experience a togetherness," Wells said.
The Foundation follows appropriate guidelines including: temperature and symptom screening, required face masks, social distancing and hand sanitizing stations.
