This is not because we don't love Hing (we love hing!), but because we now sell an amazing Hing Powder (currently sold out and will be back in 4 weeks) in our Spices section. If you still want Hing Ghee, we have a few of the 1.1 oz sizes left. Get it while it's still in stock!
In other news, saffron!
We are bringing Spanish saffron into the Pure Indian Foods family. My family and I traveled to Spain this past year and met with our new supplier, and I'm very excited to share this with you. Did you know that saffron threads are the dried stigmas of the saffron crocus? There are just 3 saffron stigmas in a single saffron crocus, and it takes 75,000 saffron crocuses to produce a single pound of saffron threads!
Our Spanish Saffron is Certified Organic and holds the prestigious “PDO La Mancha Saffron” seal. Some of the requirements that the saffron under the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) La Mancha Saffron must fulfill are:

  • Having a Spanish origin, particularly from certain municipalities from the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo.
  • Its aspect must be in the shape of stigmas.
  • It must be always packaged in containers of less than 100g.
  • It must be packaged in less than one year after its production.
Each thread of saffron is handpicked from the crocus and hand-weighed, as well.
