Special Report: SNAAP - Reflections: Alumni Perspectives on Their Postsecondary Experiences in Arts and Design

The Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP) survey collects data on the perspectives and experiences of alumni from arts, design, and adjacent fields. You may have attended the SNAAP presentation at the Artists Thrive Summit last year, but now you can read the first report from the 2022 research - focused on alumni reflections on the quality of their postsecondary arts or design experience and satisfaction with it, connection to their alma mater, and the likelihood of alumni to recommend their alma mater.

Call for Applications: Mural Training Program Community Mural Institute - in Morganton, NC

The Community Mural Institute is offering a combination of online and classroom instruction, experiential learning, and professional mentorship for 12 artists, creating and installing 3 large outdoor murals in Morganton, NC. These murals will be designed and painted in collaboration with Morganton communities using the GoodSpace Method and the indirect polytab mural technique. Applicants do not need to be professional muralists. There are opportunities for mural leads and mural assistants. Applicants must be able to attend all sessions

Deadline(s): Application - March 4, 2024; Info Session - February 15, 2024 at 6PM EST

Grant Amount: $3,000 for lead; $1,900 for assistant

Program Dates: March 15 - October 12, 2024

Call for Applications: South Arts - Presentation Grants

Presentation Grants are an opportunity for organizations in South Arts' nine-state region to receive fee support to present Southern guest film directors, visual and performing artists, or writers from inside or outside of the presenter's state. Artist fee support is awarded for film (documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation),performing arts (theater, music, opera, musical theater, and dance), literary arts (fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry), traditional arts, and visual arts (crafts, drawing, experimental, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media). Projects must include both a public presentation (film screening, performance, reading, or exhibition) and an educational/community engagement component. These grants are limited and very competitive. Projects must take place between July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.

Application Deadline: March 1, 2024

Grant: $9,500

Call for Applications: The Jim Henson Foundation

The Jim Henson Foundation awards grants each year for the creation of innovative new works of contemporary puppet theater. Their definition of a puppet is an object that is given the appearance of life through direct or indirect manipulation by the human hand. The Foundation’s Board of Directors judges applications based on the excellence of the puppetry including puppet design, manipulation and theatrical execution. 

There are three Artist Grants available: Workshop Grants, Production Grants, and Family Grants.

LOI Deadline: March 4, 2024

Grant Amount: $3,000, $4,000 or $7,000

SCALE Conference

Join Saint Louis University, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and Millikin University for the inaugural SCALE conference, designed to help student creatives and artists learn entrepreneurship. SCALE will feature speakers and panelists who are experts in their fields, as well as networking opportunities for students and faculty to connect with each other and the arts entrepreneurship community. Topics will include legal considerations, financial planning, branding and marking, pricing and more!

Call for Applications: Houston Center for Contemporary Craft Residency

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft Artist Residency Program is designed to offer time and space for craft artists to focus on their creative work and interact with public. The program supports emerging, mid-career, and established artists working in all craft media, including but not limited to clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood and mixed media. Applicants must be able to fulfill a program requirement of working in their studios for two days per week during HCCC public hours, as well as during exhibition openings and specific educational programs on the evenings and weekends. Residencies are available for 3, 6, 9, and 12 month duration.

Residency Stipend: $1,0oo/month
