Last month South Florida Regional Planning Council (SFRPC) staff members Mark-Anthony Smith and Allyson Williams attended an Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive Event in West Palm Beach. The event was hosted by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE), an organization focused on promoting responsible energy choices. Representatives from Florida Power and Light were also in attendance to promote the use of electric vehicles.

At the event staff members and participants had the opportunity to drive the latest electric vehicles like the Tesla Model S and X as well as the Chevy Bolt. Additionally, SFRPC, SACE and FPL discussed the importance of utilizing electricity as an alternative fuel source. Benefits to driving electric vehicles are not only limited to the reduction of carbon emissions but can also be found in the elimination of dependence on gasoline.
