The Department of Professional Safety and Standards that oversees all licensed professionals has recently released a draft scope statement that is the first step in a lengthy processes to craft an administrative rule over the next 18 months. The Statement of Scope released by the Massage Therapy and Bodywork Therapy Affiliated Credentialing Board on rule MTBT 4, for your information, is a routine updating of MTBT rules to match state statutes. DSPS plans to address and correct the current lack of clear rules/guidelines for requirements for individuals applying for late renewal or reinstatement of a license to practice as a massage therapist or bodywork therapist in Wisconsin. As this rule moves forward, the Licensed Massage Therapy and Bodywork Board will have complete oversite in what gets drafted .  The rule changes nothing in current scope of practice issues for currently licensed massage therapists.  Click here to read the statement of scope.
