WE NEED YOU TO BE A TRUSTED MESSENGER - SIGN UP TODAY!

CMS proudly hosted a virtual COVID-19 Vaccine Townhall featuring our Trusted Messenger Campaign last week. To those who joined - thank you. If you missed it, you can still read more about the program below and/or sign up to be a trusted messenger at vaccinetrust.org.
The Chicago Medical Society has partnered with Midwest Infectious Disease Consultants (MIDC) in launching a broad, inclusive campaign to provide education and promote confidence in the COVID-19 vaccines.

We have found that trusted sources are unique and vary across local neighborhoods and communities. Some prioritize the physician-patient relationship and others trust local organizations and churches. CMS recognizes the need for an array of trusted messengers to promote confidence and knowledge for the COVID-19 vaccine, especially in medically underserved communities.

We are asking you and your organization to become a trusted messenger to discuss the importance of getting the vaccine to dispel myths and other inaccurate information.

ACTION NEEDED - PREJUDGMENT INTEREST BILL

Earlier this week the Illinois General Assembly passed a bill that would require hospitals and health care providers to pay prejudgment interest in civil cases, which the Chicago Medical Society opposes.

The bill would require prejudgment payment of interest (at a rate of 9% a year) on claims being sought in civil cases, including medical malpractice cases. Such a punitive measure would drive up health care costs, compel physicians, including specialists, to leave the state, and jeopardize access to care.

It is crucial that the Governor hears from physician leaders on this important issue. Please contact the governor’s office today using any of the following means of communication:
