Dear Cradle of Liberty Scouting Family,
I know that, like me, you all have seen first-hand the incredible impact that Scouting has on the lives of young people. While each of our stories might be slightly different, we all have a compelling story to tell about how Scouting teaches citizenship, character development, leadership, and fitness. I know we all also agree that our communities and neighborhoods are safer and stronger when more families are engaged in local Scouting programs.
Try as we might, there are still communities and neighborhoods without Scouting units for families to join. In an effort to expand into those communities and reach those families, the Cradle of Liberty Council has requested an appropriation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in their 2023-2024 budget to support Scouting. We have been meeting with legislators over the past several months sharing the values of Scouting and how youth need Scouting programs more now than ever. Each of them has been receptive to what we shared, but they want to hear from you – their constituents.
Therefore, I am asking you to please take 5 minutes in the next day or two (budget discussions are under way now) to call your local State Senator and Representative to let them know that you are a Scouting family and that you would like them to support the Cradle of Liberty Council’s funding request that will bring the Scouting program to more families. To help you, a SHORT script is below as well as a link to identify and contact your specific local State legislators.
In Scouting we teach our Scouts about citizenship and reaching out to our elected officials to share our voice. I hope that you will take just a few minutes to call your legislators and voice your support of the Cradle of Liberty Council’s request. If you have any questions about the request, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Thank you for all that you do to make today and every day a GREAT day to be a Scout!
Yours in Scouting,
