SBA Proposed Changes Could Impact New Mexico Small Businesses

New Mexico small businesses: SBA has proposed new size standards that would change who competes for federal small-business set-asides. We’re submitting a comment on behalf of our members, and we need your input. Share your experience in our 5-minute confidential form.

Click here to fill out the form!

What the proposal does:

  • Consolidates ~1,000 size standards into 338
  • Sets a floor of 500 employees or $30.6M in receipts, with no upper limit
  • If you qualify as small today, you’ll still qualify. Who you compete against could change.

Want to file your own comment? File directly at
regulations.gov/document/SBA-2026-0199-0001.

Form closes Nov 13. Comments due to SBA Nov 20.

Breath of the Ancestors: Albuquerque Hosts the 10th Annual Native Language Symposium

Albuquerque welcomes educators, language carriers, and community leaders from across Turtle Island on November 9-10, 2026, for the 10th Annual Native Language Symposium at the Berna Facio Professional Development Center. Hosted by the Indigenous Montessori Institute and the Keres Children's Learning Center of Cochiti Pueblo, this milestone gathering is themed Breath of the Ancestors: Reclaiming Our First Words.

The theme carries a double meaning: the first words our youngest children speak, and the original languages of the lands they come from. Over two days, attendees will take part in workshops, panels, and breakout sessions led by people doing this work in their own communities. Topics range from classroom immersion and family engagement to intergenerational storytelling, land-based learning, and culturally grounded curriculum design. Early childhood educators, families, artists, researchers, youth, and advocates are all welcome.
