Update on Kenya
By Missionaries Mike and Pam Lumbard
So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.  The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.  For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
1 Corinthians 3:7-9
We completed a six-week mission trip to Kenya and every week was filled with ministry. Mission trips that are effective create benefits for in-country ministry and for team members. Our trip was designed to maximize both areas.
Here are some observations from some of our team members:
“Right from the start we went full force into ministry. I expected nothing less! But I did not expect to feel so exhausted so quickly. That was when the Lord began teaching me how to rely on His strength in all I do instead of trying to do everything by myself. At one point, I literally could not have done any more if it wasn’t for the Lord encouraging, strengthening, and filling me with the Holy Spirit and His power. I am being stretched and challenged in so many ways.”

Michaela is becoming a good speaker and teacher.
“God has put on my heart how people are hungry for His Word and wanting to learn. We need more people speaking and teaching the Word.”
-- Kenneth Finley
That is exactly what Ken has done. Every chance he gets he is speaking to someone about Jesus, once even in pouring rain. He also attracted children wherever he went and used that gift to minister to them.
“I've led a youth small group for many years, but I've never just talked to groups of people about Jesus. I'm really growing in how I read the Bible because I'm not just reading, I'm trying to see what God wants to say to me and what He wants me to use. I then am learning how I can talk about Him through His Word. God has done many things in my life, and I want people to know how faithful He is to those who believe.”
               --Justus Morgan
“If Kenya taught me one thing, it's this: the world needs Jesus. I can't wait until I feel like I'm ‘good enough’ or ‘qualified enough’ to be His hands and feet. People need me to let Him use me now, just as I am.”
               --Devanne D’Loss
“I worked to understand the heart of the Kenyan people. I began to see God’s great love for Africa, which counteracts the belief that Christianity is western and not African. I felt their pain, the poverty, and the societal causes so that we could teach them to look only to Jesus for their answers.”
               --Mike Lumbard
“More than anything my time in Kenya has increased my heart of love for the nations. Worshiping alongside other cultures is one of my favorite things! Reaching out to those in need with food and Bibles has been a highlight for me. And the children, it doesn’t take much to bring a smile to their faces. Kenya has been a blessing!"
--Pam Lumbard
We held 67 services, classes, and home fellowships. This included launching a Bible college, leading a pastors’ conference, and even hosting a kids’ club. Thirty-nine adults and several children accepted Jesus. We distributed 75 food boxes and at least 88 Bibles in Swahili or English. More Bibles will be purchased when they are in stock. The impact for the Kingdom has gone far beyond what we expected.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

The coronavirus pandemic has caused more than 4,994,011 deaths around the world. It has brought a major halt to business and has caused severe economic hardship in many countries. In addition, thousands of our Open Bible churches around the world have had to stop in-person services, which has been very difficult.
Would you join the Pandemic Aid team? The funds received will help hundreds of pastors and their families and communities. Our priority will be to provide food and necessities for their survival during this time of crisis.
Together we can make a lasting impact through Pandemic Aid and help our brothers and sisters around the world cope and succeed during this time of crisis. www.bit.ly/MVPpandemicaid
