VETERAN'S DAY
We Salute Our Vets
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

Did you know traumatic brain or head injury can
cause seizures and epilepsy?

  • A traumatic brain injury occurs when the brain is physically injured, usually by sudden force.
  • This injury can be caused by a concussive blast or explosion.  Because the damage is internal, there may be no visible head wound.
EFNC stands ready to support our veterans living with epilepsy through our many programs and services! We are proud to share information about one of our esteemed partners,  San Francisco Veterans Affairs  Epilepsy Center of Excellence (ECoE)

MISSION: Improve the health and well-being of Veteran patients with epilepsy and other seizure disorders through the integration of clinical care, outreach, research, and education.

At the  San Francisco Center ECoE, a range of services in both the outpatient and inpatient realms are offered. Weekly  outpatient epilepsy clinics with a staff of three neurology specialists are available. From these clinics, patients can be directed to the most advanced testing methods for the evaluation of epilepsy, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and additional assessment. For patient s who require more  intensive testing,  the ECoE's inpatient  unit  provides around the clock EEG and video monitoring.

If you are a veteran with seizures and are interested in visiting the Veterans Affairs Epilepsy Center in San Francisco, please communicate with your local primary care physician. This doctor will be able to determine if you might benefit from the center, and can help set up a visit.
If you are already a patient at the ECoE center, call 415-379-5599.
