The past few weeks have made it impossible to deny that one of the greatest challenges in our country is dismantling hundreds of years of institutional and systemic racism. UWTC has always believed that our deepest challenges can be addressed, and that sustainable solutions can be found, when communities come together to share resources, wisdom, and care.
As we continue our mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities, we are committed to addressing the systems, policies, and tactics that threaten the basic freedoms and human rights of people of color. Without dismantling these inhumane systems, we know a community cannot truly LIVE UNITED.
Tompkins County is a unique and beautiful place. Compassion, innovation, and activism are abundant in our community, but we must not become complacent. We must remain vigilant, reflecting on our individual and collective choices and actions, apologizing and regrouping when needed. We know that YOU, our neighbors, will provide exceptional examples that will help us and the rest of the country learn how to heal, ensure justice, and move forward. It is an honor to join and support our community on this important journey.
