Smartwool Second Cut Project

Last year we collected 209 pounds of socks to recycle into other products. Help us do even better in 2023.

Unwanted socks contribute to the nearly 11,300,000 tons of textiles thrown away annually.

Because they’re difficult to recycle they will almost certainly end up in a landfill.

Well…not anymore.

Smartwool’s Second Cut Project is going to give old socks a 2^nd life beyond the landfill.

This project is focused on keeping good materials out of landfills and using them in good products.

We’re taking them ALL back!

• ALL Brands.
• ALL Colors.
• ALL Sizes.
• ALL Conditions.

ALL of them.

We’re not picky.

Smartwool will be working to make them into new things, like dog beds to start.

It will take a community-wide effort to make this a reality. This is just the beginning. This project is a key to Smartwool reaching their goal of 100% circularity by 2030.

Let’s do this thing together. We will be collecting socks at Medved through the end of April.

What we need:

• Clean Socks Only!
• All brands, colors, sizes, and materials, in any condition.
• No rolled or paired socks, bags, rubber bands, or clips. Just single, clean socks.

Medved Madness is our annual spring trail running party!

The Madness will consist of two separate races.

1. The Long Course will be roughly 13 miles. It will be at least 11 miles, but no more than 15 miles. There is a early start option for the Long Course. If you'd expect a trail half marathon to take you more than three hours please sign up for the early start.
2. The Short Course will be roughly five miles. It will be at least four miles, but no more than six miles. There will not be an early start option for the Short Course.

The races are estimated distances and the course will be set on race day. The course is different each year because of varying trail conditions.

There will be one basic aid station for Long Course event. You must carry your hydration and nutrition needs with you.

After the race, stick around for our post race BBQ. Please bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy.

The 2023 Lilac Run 5k, 10k & Dunkin' Dash will take place on the FINAL day of the Lilac Festival at Highland Park. 

Join us on Sunday, May 21st for the in person Lilac Run 5K, 10K and Dunkin' Dash! Choose to run or walk one, two or all three events! Virtual events will also be offered.

Members of The Medved Endurance Project receive $10.00 off on their Lilac Run Registration.

Do you have a passion for helping others? Do you enjoy sharing your love of running, walking, or the great outdoors? Then come join our team!

If you enjoy helping others meet their goals, we have a place for you! Candidates must be able to work 15 + hours per week, with evening and weekend availability. We offer a supportive team atmosphere and will train you prior to having you help customers. How fast you run does not matter. What does matter is an ability and desire to help others!

What we look for in a Team Member:

• Outgoing and passionate about helping others
• Willingness and ability to learn about new products and services
• Weekend and evening availability (15 + hours per week)
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to stay up to date on new products and technologies
