Kevin Jennings - Keynote Speaker for the
Coming Out Day Breakfast
7:30 AM
Herbert University Center
12000 Alumni Dr, Jacksonville, FL
32224
We are really excited about the keynote speaker at this year's Coming Out Day Breakfast!
Kevin B. Jennings, Executive Director of the Arcus Foundation, has made a long and distinguished career as an educator, social justice activist, teacher, and author.
He served as Assistant Deputy Secretary of Education in the Obama Administration, heading the department's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools where he led the Administration's anti-bullying initiative.
Kevin began his career as a high school history teacher and coach in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. During this time he served as faculty advisor to the nation's first Gay-Straight Alliance, leading him in 1990 to found the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a national education organization tackling anti-LGBT bias in U.S. schools, which he led for 18 years.
Don't miss the Breakfast, where Kevin
will talk about strategies to address bullying in schools and the challenges still faced by LGBT and questioning youth. As a national leader, Kevin's perspectives on LGBT students and the international LGBT movement for equality will be informative and inspiring.
A few sponsorships are still available, but you'll have to hurry! The cutoff date for sponsorships is October 1st. To learn more, contact Angela Strain.

Florida has one the highest incidences of new HIV infections in the country. And Jacksonville leads the state in the number of new cases reported each year.
T
he largest percentage of new infection in Jacksonville occurs among youth, ages 13-24. And at JASMYN, we work hard everyday to make sure our youth are educated, informed, protected and supported.
For these and so many other reason, JASMYN will proudly participate in the First Coast AIDS Walk and we would love for you to come out and join us! And it's FREE!

Fall in Jacksonville means River City Pride! And JASMYN is going all out to celebrate!
Plan to march in the Pride Parade with our friends, supporters, staff and youth. We're planning an amazing float and expect to turn heads throughout the parade route!
The next day, at the Pride Festival, JASMYN will have a table with lots of information about resources available to youth and their families. You will even be able to purchase some JASMYN-branded merchandise that you can wear proudly all day and for many days to come!
So mark your calendars and plan to celebrate with us!
Volunteers MUST sign-up in advance. Register to volunteer by emailing Angela Strain.
