The Personal Importance of
ACPM Fellowship for Dr. Michel

Fellowship in ACPM is important as all of our practices involve the management of podiatric medicine, biomechanics and orthopedics, and requires fundamental understanding prior to any advanced or surgical intervention.

I am a Fellow of ACPM for the comradery of my colleagues, because ACPM strongly advocates for its fellows and plans an integral role in the education of its Fellows, residents and students.

- Dr. Rosemay Michel
Dr. Michel graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1996, and completed her residency training at the Denver VA Medical Center. She then completed a Fellowship in Podopediatrics and Surgery at North General Hospital in New York City, and a Diabetic Foot/Limb Salvage Fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is Board Certified by ABPM and ABFAS and currently practices at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in North Carolina.

The value of service was instilled in Dr Michel by her parents., who always encourage her to give back, professionally and socially. Dr. Michel was involved with the Denver Boys and Girls Club and served on medical missions to Mexico during her training years. She also served on a medical mission trip to Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010. This experience had a particularly profound effect on her, as she is of Haitian descent. She was grateful to be able to serve in a variety of ways, from helping establish temporary medical camps to working at the local hospital in patient care and surgical procedures.

Currently, Dr. Michel continues her service as Treasurer of ACPM. She is a member of the ABPM Qualification/In-Training Subsection Examination and Credentials committees, and serves as a liaison for the board on the Council of Podiatric Medical Education Residency Review Committee (RRC). She also participates as a CPME onsite residency program visit evaluator.

In her free time, Dr. Michel enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, exploring world history, reading and spending time with family.
