Take the ProQOL assessment

I recently completed the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL). This tool is the most commonly used well-being assessment for persons working in the helping professions. The scale measures compassion satisfaction, burnout, and compassion fatigue.

Like most clinicians, nurses, CPSP staff, and CPHW's, I love my work and take pride every day in my ability to make a positive difference in my community. The ProQOL assessment clearly showed I am compassionately engaged in my work and not suffering from burnout- however, I was surprised to find that I do have signs of something called Secondary Traumatic Stress, as a matter of fact my score was twice normal.

Secondary Traumatic Stress is what can happen to us when we listen to the stories of the traumatic events experienced by the people we serve.

Secondary Traumatic Stress is treatable and maybe even preventable.
