This is a very proud moment in Kingspan’s long history of leading the way in sustainability, as we launch our first Planet Passionate annual report. Planet Passionate follows on from our very successful Net Zero Energy programme which was also pioneering in its ambition and scale when it launched in 2011. I’m delighted to say that we achieved our Net Zero Energy goals during the course of 2020 and would like to sincerely thank everyone who played a part in making it happen.

Despite the global pandemic, it has been inspirational to see the spirit with which the whole business has risen to the challenge of the 12 targets of Planet Passionate and I encourage you all to read the interactive report and learn about the excellent progress that we all made in 2020.

Circularity is a key focus for us at Kingspan, and today we are officially launching our new LIFECycle product circularity framework to everyone across Kingspan Group. We have many exciting developments happening at the moment including innovative pilots for re-use and recycling of our products.

Finally, I would like to welcome the new additions to the Kingspan Group family in recent months: Bromyros, Krohn, Terasteel, Wetterbest, Skydome, Dyplast, Baga, Dome Solar and Logstor. We look forward to their contribution on our journey towards ever more energy-efficient and low-carbon buildings that enhance the wellbeing of people and our planet.

We are Planet Passionate…
Our Planet Passionate sustainability programme will span a decade. 2020 marked the first year of the journey and an array of key milestones were realised.

Across the Group, we are committed to significant decarbonisation by 2030 including 60% direct renewable energy in our manufacturing and the elimination of 50% carbon from our primary supply chain. We now know that the entire planet needs to reduce carbon emissions by 45% by 2030 in order to prevent catastrophic climate change and we are determined to significantly exceed that goal through our Planet Passionate targets.

Explore the milestones achieved, progress made and details on how our global business is stepping up to the challenging goals of our sustainability programme, all portrayed in our first ever global, interactive Planet Passionate Annual Report.

We are Playing our part in Protecting
the Natural World…
Born Free Pride of Meru Partnership
Born Free’s Pride of Meru Programme ensures that the Meru Conservation Area (MCA) has a viable lion population, which can become a lion stronghold in northern Kenya, via enhanced co-existence.

Despite the challenges faced throughout 2020, the Pride of Meru team identified an additional eleven lions, bringing the total number of lions monitored in the landscape to 64.
ECOALF Foundation Upcycling the Ocean Partnership
ECOALF Foundation’s Upcycling the Ocean project collaborates with a network of 2.600 fishermen in Spain to recover waste from the Mediterranean sea. Under our 3-year partnership we aim to use as much of the ocean plastic recovered as we can, in our production processes.

In 2020, Synthesia utilised 9.67 tonnes of PET sourced from the ECOALF Foundation’s Upcycling the Oceans project in their production.
