A Taste of Home
Enjoy a savory recipe from the Mulvihill family, one of our Habitat LA
partner homeowners.
Mulvihill Family Mac-n-Cheese Instructions:
Preheat oven 425 degrees. Start to boil 1lb large elbow macaroni noodles in large pot. Melt 1 stick butter in separate large pot on medium heat. Mix in 1 cup flour to doughy consistency and cook/stir for few minutes at medium heat. Stir in 1 quart milk. Stir mixture to a creamy roux (stir often to keep from burning/sticking to pot). Add 1 cup of shredded cheddar/jack cheese. Add cheese-stir until melted. Salt to taste. Drain noodles and then add to roux. Layer half the mixture into aluminum tray. Cover with shredded cheddar/jack, lightly pushing cheese into noodles. Add second half of noodle/roux
mixture. Top with shredded cheddar/jack again, lightly pushing cheese into noodles. Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly. Uncover and bake additional 15-20 minutes or until
desired brown. Let dish cool, and enjoy!
In Loving Memory of Habitat LA Volunteer Greg Raasch
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) mourns the loss of one of our beloved longtime volunteers, Greg Raasch, who passed away in October 2020. We’ve set up a memorial fund in hopes of raising enough money to build a future Habitat LA home in his honor. To support, please text GregRaasch to 71777 or visit bit.ly/GregRaasch-MemorialFund.

Greg and his wife Debi volunteered to build Habitat homes locally and in the Philippines, Chile, and New Zealand. Every build they participated in and every partner family they met reinforced their love and commitment to Habitat as they watched lives being transformed through security and hope that becoming a homeowner brings.

Dia de los Muertos Caravan Celebration
Safely Keeping Communities Connected
At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA), the safety and health of our community is always first as we continue to work to revitalize neighborhoods. In alignment with that commitment, Habitat LA brought a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event to the Washington Neighborhood of Long Beach with a caravan celebration to honor and remember the family members and friends who have passed away; to keep their memory alive. Watch our video to see how we turned to the decorative tradition into a mobile and festive route throughout the neighborhood.
