This Week at Christ Church
Taco Tuesday
Stewardship Kick-off
Everyone is invited to Taco Tuesday , October 15 at 6:00 p.m. What a great way for our Christ Church family to gather and kickoff our annual stewardship campaign, We Are Family. So bring the whole family to enjoy a delicious Mexican-themed dinner with beverages for adults and children alike.

This is our first event of the stewardship season, and we hope you'll plan to attend. Please make sure to RSVP so we will have plenty of food for all.

Stewardship Campaign Begins
We Are Family
Look for your stewardship materials in your mailbox this week. The packet includes important information that we hope will help you prayerfully consider your support of Christ Church in the coming year.

In this time of transition, it is important for our parish family to maintain our commitment to the mission of Christ Church and support its many ministries. We must continue to be good stewards of this amazing property that has been passed down to us over generations.

It's easy to make your pledge. You may bring your completed pledge card to next week's kick-off event, mail your pledge in the return envelope in your packet, or make your pledge online.

If you regularly give to Christ Church but have never made a pledge, please consider doing so. Our pledged total is the basis by which we build our budget each year!

Questions??? Contact Christie Tugend, Parish Administrator - (619) 435-4561.
Yin Yoga
October 13 @ Christ Church
The Yin practice is one that honors our inherent need to slow down and be still . It’s a practice that can help us create harmony with Earth’s cycles and with our own. Without rest, we cannot recharge . Rest and contemplation go hand-in-hand with this more dormant time of year.

Join Heather Smith Sunday, October 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Hinde Hall , for a special 75-minute Yin class with an emphasis on the autumn themes of taking in and letting go.

Suggested donation $10 . Space is limited. Please sign-up at heathersmithyoga.com

Celebrating Episcopal Schools
October 8-11, 2019
Bishop Susan was in chapel today in celebration of National Episcopal Schools Week . After chapel, Bishop Susan spoke with 4th, 5th and 6th grade classes about planting seeds and churches. This week's gospel focused on the mustard seed and the students had a wonderful time talking with Bishop Susan about how plants, churches, and faith can grow. Thank you Bishop Susan !

Not Able to Make it to Church?
3 things to DO....
Some Sundays you just can't make it to church. In that case, here are three things you can do:
  • Watch the Sunday service on our live-stream, both the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. - via the website
  • Each week's Sunday bulletins for both services are also available on the website "Worship" page.
  • Sermons are usually posted on the homepage of the website. under "News".

Remember, the live-stream is just that, it broadcasts the services in real time, no recording is currently available.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Begins October 13
This Sunday marks the official start of our Thanksgiving Food Drive. The first item we will be collecting is cornbread.

Here's our weekly collection wish list!

  • October 13 - cornbread mix
  • October 20 - mashed potatoes and gravy
  • October 27 - canned green beans (we'd like to give at least 2 per bag)
  • November 3 - canned green beans (so we need lots!)
  • November 10 - desserts
  • November 17 - $15 grocery gift cards (welcome any time)

Our goal is to pack 250 bags of non-perishable food for a yummy Thanksgiving feast to be delivered to our neighbors in need through our friends at St Mark's, St Alban's, Uptown Community Services Center, and our local schools.

Mark your calendars for November 17 when we'll lovingly pack our 250 bags as a parish family! We can't do it without you!
The Diocese and Beyond
46th Annual EDSD Convention
November 8 - 9, 2019
Four Christ Church delegates, Hal Skelly, Don McCleary, Jamie Glorieux, and Linda Benning will attend the 46th Annual Diocesan Convention at St. Margaret's, Palm Desert. A contingent of parish youth, grades 6-12, will join youth from throughout the diocese for a special gathering, To the Ends of the Earth, during the convention weekend.

There will be a pet food ingathering at convention . The Neighbors-4-Neighbors ministry at St. Margaret’s reaches out to huge numbers of people . There isn’t a week that goes by where clients don't ask for pet food. Many are often challenged to make difficult choices such as purchasing food for themselves or for their pets, buying medicine, or paying the electric bill. It shouldn’t have to be that way for anyone, and you can help.

Your donation of pet food to the ingathering can be dropped off at the parish office or the Sunday service. Our delegates will make sure your donations get to the St. Margaret's.
