How you've helped your neighbors in need
on their road to self-sufficiency.
I didn't ask for help because I thought others needed it more...

Alaina* was a single mom of two children, working full-time, when she severely injured her shoulder in an accident that forced her to change jobs.

She went back to school to become a licensed teacher for children with autism, while working part-time to pay the bills. Over the last few years, Alaina scraped by with the help of school loans and credit cards. She persevered and finally received her teaching degree, and now has full-time employment again.

Alaina recently came to our Food Pantry for help as she pays down her credit card debt and school loans. She said she always felt others needed it more than her. Alaina waited before asking for help even though she could have benefitted from Bootstraps' assistance years ago.

Beverly Bootstraps was able to assist Alaina as she moved to more stable ground. We applaud her hard work to make a better life for herself and her children.

Weekend Food Program Update

No child should go hungry or worry about where their next meal is coming from. Sadly, right here in Essex County, 11.5% of kids are faced with this challenge every day with numbers rising during this pandemic.

We are proud to announce that our Weekend Food program restarted this fall. In partnership with Beverly Public Schools we are now providing pre-packed bags of healthy snacks to over 120 children. The Weekend Food program provides increased access to the Food Pantry and healthy snacks for children when they are not in school.
