Three (3) structural engineers have told us that our east wing is not safe. Only the engineer representing the insurance company is of a different opinion, and, therefore, they have determined not to honor our claim to repair the roof, or the underlying structure. The insurance company is saying that the faults that are causing the collapse of the structure are due to the initial structural design. We beg to differ in that when the building was designed and built in 1979 (which included the clay roof tiles), every aspect of the design and construction was done according to code, documented, and passed by all authorities of state and city government. Our leadership has determined that we cannot wait for the insurance company to do what is right. The risk of life and costs continue to escalate if we do not act to prevent further deterioration of our property.
