Issue #12 | September 2018
Happy September!

The days are getting shorter and the air is getting colder! That's right, Autumn is just around the corner.

UWYV students were quite busy last year, launching 53 Venture Teams. That means we had help and support from dozens of panelists. Please read below for more information about how our panelists support our Venture Teams.

UWYV has already had a full month of this brand new school year. A few weeks ago we had the chance to host our first Dream It. Do It. presentation of the year at Murdock Middle School. It was a great honor to spend that time with Murdock Middle School students. They are gearing up to create change and we are excited to support their efforts.

Would you like to take part in motivating and inspiring students? We are seeking volunteers for our 2018 Fall Kickoff! Scroll down to find out how you can help!

UWYV still has openings for Outreach Specialists! Please read below to learn more about this exciting and rewarding position.

As always, we appreciate all of our readers and we are very grateful for your continued support of our program. Thank you!

~the United Way Youth Venture Team!
UWYV would like to thank our FY18 panelists. We are grateful for their dedication to our program and to the students!

A panelist's role is to watch the Venture Team's presentation of their community project and plan. The Venturers describe how they want to make a difference in their world and they provide the detail in the plan they have worked through. Using guidelines, the panelists decide if the Venture Team is ready to officially launch.

Panelists will also determine the amount of seed funding to award the Team, as well as provide positive feedback and helpful suggestions to encourage the Team's future success!

The UWYV Community Panel marks the transition from the idea and planning stage to implementation for each Venture Team. The role as a panelist in providing students with constructive and useful recommendations is paramount, and we truly appreciate their involvement and contributions!

We will be looking for more panelists this school year as our Venture Teams prepare to launch. If you are interested, email us at UWYV@mwcc.mass.edu.
On September 6th, UWYV had the privilege of hosting our first Dream It. Do It. presentation of the year at Murdock Middle school!

Our motivating and inspiring Dream It. Do It. presentation is one of the ways students can learn more about UWYV, and how they can create change. At Murdock Middle School, Venture Teams like TRUTH Peer Mentoring have already begun to take action in creating positive change.

Great job Murdock Middle School! We look forward to seeing what you accomplish!
