HisAbilities Summer Respite Event
Volunteers Needed by June 27
| | | |
Our HisAbilities ministry is excited to announce a new event for our growing respite ministry this summer, and we need volunteers! Our Summer Respite Event will be Saturday, July 19, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Like our Respite Nights, this event presents a wonderful opportunity for our church to come alongside Christ Covenant families impacted by disability by providing a few hours of respite for parents while their children (younger or older) are cared for and engaged by a loving team of volunteers! It’s also a great time to make encouraging connections with this special part of our church body! Volunteers must be members of Christ Covenant, but no experience with disabilities is necessary. We seek to ensure all volunteers are serving in roles best suited to them. To learn more or to register to volunteer please contact Amy Van Dusen by June 27.
Also, if you are a Christ Covenant family (members or regularly attending) impacted by disability or special needs who would benefit from participating in this Respite Event, please contact Amy Van Dusen by June 27.
| | Join us for our next O Night! Our team of ambassadors for Christ shares the hope that we have with our neighbors in Matthews on the first and third Tuesdays of every month through September. You can serve in the community or with the prayer team in the south lobby. Our next O Night is Tuesday, July 1, from 7:00 pm - 8:15pm. We meet in the south lobby. | | |

Women's Ministry Summer Girls' Night Out
Monday, July 28
| | | All ladies are invited to join us on Monday, July 28, at 6:00 pm, for our Summer Girls’ Night Out, at White Duck Taco, in Matthews (address is 131 E John St Suite A, Matthews, NC 28105). We gather several times a year for these casual fellowship nights, and it is always a great time! The only cost is the cost of your dinner. | | We're "kneading" a little help! Our Guest Ministry is looking for volunteers to bake small loaves of bread to share with those who are new to our church. It's a simple gesture that leaves a lasting impression of warmth and welcome. Whether you're a seasoned baker or just love the smell of fresh bread in the oven, we'd be grateful for your support. Email Michelle to let her know you'd like to offer this form of hospitality. | | Looking for a great book for summer reading? Our book nooks in the main, south and north lobby all have a great variety of books for you! Here are a few books you can currently find in the book nooks. | |
Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age
Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age by Rosaria Butterfield; Modern culture is increasingly outspoken against a biblical understanding of what it means to be a woman. Even some Christians, swayed by the LGBTQ+ movement, have rejected God’s Word on issues of sexuality and gender in favor of popular opinion. In light of these pressures, it’s more important than ever to help women see the truth about who God created them to be.
In this powerful book, Rosaria Butterfield uses Scripture to confront 5 common lies about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty often promoted in our secular culture today. Written in the style of a memoir, this book explores Butterfield’s personal battle with these lies—interwoven with cultural studies, literary criticism, and theology—to help readers see the beauty in biblical womanhood, marriage, and motherhood.

The Lord Bless You and Keep You
The Lord Bless You and Keep You by Michael J. Glodo; “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you,” (Numbers 6:24–25). For centuries, Christians have read these words and received them as a blessing. What does it mean for God’s face to shine upon his people?
Faces are often referred to as the window to the soul, displaying emotion and providing relational clarity between individuals. This theme of faces reverberates throughout Scripture, first appearing with Adam and Eve and notably surfacing in the Aaronic benediction in Numbers 6.
The Lord Bless You and Keep You explores this benediction to discover the important connection between a person’s face and the face of God—finding that through faces, God shines the light of the gospel upon his people and offers his grace, goodness, and blessing to those who believe in him.
