“Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
 Matthew 28:18-20 HCSB

Can you imagine what it would be like to have all authority, over literally everything? It’s a terrifying thought honestly, to think about a flawed humanity ever having access to “all authority”. Thank God that the only one who has that access is the only perfect one who ever lived!

I don’t know about you, but I would imagine that a lot of humans would make pretty selfish decisions if they had “all authority.” How do I know? Well if you watch the news for just a few minutes, you will see abuse of authority and misuse of authority. This happens on both sides of the political arena. We are all tempted daily to use our resources, our abilities, and our authority for selfish gain.

But not Jesus! No, our Savior used His authority for the good of every single human in the world! With His authority, He instructed His disciples to GO and to disciple the world, teaching them about His love and His perfect ways.

Do you remember what it was like before you were a disciple of Jesus? Do you remember the excruciating pain of being helpless in your sin? Do you remember your own depravity and desperation? Do you remember the feeling of being truly alone? Do you remember being lost?

I find that the longer we are Christians, the more we are tempted to forget what life without Jesus is like. Jesus’s number one priority on the Earth is to make His name known. Why you might ask? Because HE is our only hope! He is the only one who can save us from ourselves and the power of the enemy.

Let me ask you a question: would you say that you love God with all of your heart, your soul, your mind and your strength right now? Could you say “yes” to that question honestly? You see, if our relationship with God is our #1 priority, then I make the assumption that you deeply care about His heart.

In the scripture above, Jesus revealed to His disciples what was on His heart. The answer is incredible.... We are on His heart! People are who He died for. God wants us to share the spiritual riches of our salvation with every person on the Earth.

The enemy will do anything he can to make you forget God’s desire for the hearts of people. He will distract you with lesser things. He will tempt you with sin. He will deceive you into building your own fame, name and story. But God holds the victory for us over all the strategies of the enemy. James 4:7 says:  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

So I challenge you: Submit yourself to Jesus in prayer today and ask Him honestly where you should go, who you should disciple, and how you should spread His name and fame among the nations. The first place to go when you don’t know where to turn is to Him. He is always faithful and He will show you how to fulfill the great commission In your life. Your obedience and surrender has eternal significance. Do not delay- today is the day of salvation

For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.”
2 Corinthians 6:2
