Greetings!
Do you remember your last sail on the Schooner Hindu? Remember that feeling of adventure as we tacked by Long Point or out beyond Sunset Key? How would you like to join us for something even more exciting??!
Over the next nine months the Schooner Hindu will undergo a rejuvenation process unlike anything she has ever seen before. She is 95 years young, and with your help, will leave this refit ready for another hundred years of service on the water. Along the way you will learn about maritime history, the craft involved in wooden boat building, get to know some of the 7 decades of crew and families who have sailed with the Hindu, and become a part of the amazing community that the Schooner Hindu has fostered over the course of her 95 years. With videos, pictures, and newsletters there will be something worthwhile for everyone!
This is a big project; made bigger by the fact that we were unable to have a summer season to raise funds for the project this year.
Our summer season in Provincetown was cancelled first by the pandemic, and then by our 'freak accident' in the Long Island Sound. In order to get help we have created a GoFundMe called Promise to the Schooner Hindu, that explains the promise Capt. Josh made to the Hindu when he first purchased her with his father, Admiral Bill Rowan over 10 years ago. On the GoFundMe you will find updates on how we are progressing through the rebuild, and a list of gifts that are available to show our appreciation for your contributions.
Chances are it's been a long time since you last sailed with us, and it may be a long time before you sail with us again, but perhaps you will join us for a different kind of adventure during these Covid-19 times.
We are very much looking forward to sharing this project with you, and to sailing with you again, even if it's with masks and other safety precautions, but we won't be able to make it happen without your help.
With your help we will be back in the water next June and ready for the Hindu's best summer yet! Without your help, well, we'd rather not think about that...
