Notes from our Executive Director - Mari Steinbach
Happy August, everyone!
As summer begins to wind down, we take this time to say, “THANK YOU!” to our loyal public who have come back to the Community Recreation Center (CRC), the Field House, and the programs and classes throughout this pandemic summer. To those of you who don’t yet feel comfortable coming back, or who won’t: we will look forward to seeing you again – hopefully soon!
We have made a slow emergence back into safe summer activities. More than 1000 adults and children have played adult and youth softball and baseball; the outdoor pool at the Field House is open for families to enjoy the sunshine and splash about in the cool water; and the indoor pool at the CRC is once again an active and happy place. The Summer Enrichment Program at the Fieldhouse has been rocking it all summer long, and the outdoor pickleball courts and players are thriving. Racquetball, rock climbing, fitness, track, and fitness classes, open basketball, senior trips, personal care programs, all with some limitations, are back open and awaiting you.
The MRD staff thinks our facilities are among the cleanest, brightest, and safest in town. Maybe you haven’t seen us in action yet. I believe you will be impressed by our diligent cleaning and attention in support of health and safety and our care to you, our patrons and fellow community members. The face covering order is fully enforced, helping to keep us safe as we play. If you haven’t yet stopped in, our doors are always open to you to (wear your mask) come in and walk around, see what we’re doing, and let us know what you think.
Take a look at what we are offering in August and September – we hope you find something that can help bring a bit of normalcy back for you. C’mon out and play – we want to see you!
Very best,
Mari
