~ YCA CARES ~
Young Chefs Academy Covid-19 Safety Measures
We are ecstatic to have your children in the kitchen with us. We want to assure you that we will be strictly adhering to all Social Distancing mandates/orders as they pertain to children’s activities, including limited-capacity classes and events, as well as strict health and sanitation measures required by the CDC. In addition to the guidelines from the CDC and our local government, we are also implementing our own “YCA Cares” safety standards, which will include:

  • Screening and evaluating children and staff prior to them entering the classroom for signs of illness, such as a fever over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, cough, or shortness of breath.
  • Limited class sizes.
  • Parents will drop-off and pick up their child at the front door. A YCA staff member will meet the student and instruct them to wash their hands and take their place in the classroom, where a teacher will greet them.
  • All payments will be handled through online processing.
  • All teachers and staff will be required to wear face masks/shields and gloves and will maintain social distancing throughout class.
  • Students will be seated at their designated table in class – one student per table. Students will be asked to remain seated during class unless instructed otherwise.
  • Each student will be provided their own ingredients and utensils to be used throughout the class time.
  • Each child will also be provided with an individual hand sanitizer and boxed tissue at their station.
  • Teachers will collect student-prepped ingredients to be baked or cooked. Only the instructor will touch (with gloved hands) these bowls. Ready to eat recipes will be prepared and consumed by the student at his/her station. Instructors will be the only ones allowed to handle ingredient containers.
  • Students will be allowed to use the restroom one at a time and must wash their hands when they return to class, as usual.
  • To maintain social distancing, when class is over students will be dismissed one at a time upon parent arrival.
  • Teachers will review all safety and hygiene measures before and throughout class time.
