Dear Bishop Moore Catholic families,

With less than a week before the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, we are ready and excited to welcome our in-person and virtual learners! On Wednesday-Friday of this week, we held our new student orientation for freshmen and transfer students. This experience was a great opportunity for our new hornets to figure out where to go and what to do, easing the stress of the first day.

We hope you received the email from President Doyle regarding how we need your help to keep our BMC community safe. Let's work together to ensure that our students are making good choices both on and off campus. Together We Are MOORE!

In Christ,

The BMC Administrative Team

**We sent current parents our weekly faculty and staff communication, in error. Mea Culpa! But now you have some insight as to what is taking place, internally, preparing for the start of school.

Vito is a graduate from Christopher Columbus Catholic High School, Florida State University and received his Masters in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He was a Science teacher with Miami-Dade Public Schools for twenty-one years.

For the past sixteen years, Vito has worked for OCPS teaching AP Bio and serving as a STEM facilitator for teachers working with Special Education students.

Vito enjoys traveling, Disney, gardening, sports, and, most importantly, his family and Catholic faith.

Mr. Mazzini will join Marvin Snyder and Yvonne Toro as part of our Assistant Principal Team. Welcome to the BMC family, Mr. Mazzini!

BMC Map (Traffic Flow on Campus)
In an effort to keep our hornets safe and practice social distancing, we have created this map that displays the flow of traffic on the BMC campus. When students arrive on campus, they will find directional arrows on the walkways, reminding them of the direction to travel while walking on campus.

Purchasing E-Texts & Student Schedules

On Monday, August 24, all students will be able to see their schedule via FACTS (RenWeb). If a student has an issue with his/her schedule, there will be a Request for Schedule Change Form available starting Wednesday, August 26. Students (or parents) should not reach out to his/her individual School Counselor, as all potential changes will only be considered if submitted on the form. Students will be able to access this form via his/her School Counselor’s Schoology group. The only changes that will be considered are true errors - i.e. the student has already taken the course, a level change, a lunch change due to a documented medical condition, or there is an open space where a class is supposed to be. An open space is NOT the same as a Free Period. A Free Period will actually say Free Period. An empty space is an error and you must complete the form.

Virtual Discipline/Attendance Policy
Parents, there are three waivers that are mandatory for all students, virtual and in person learners, to complete. Please visit the Parent Portal and sign these three waivers. A new waiver, the Virtual Discipline/Attendance Policy has recently been added.

Virtual Discipline/Attendance Policy
All students and parents need to sign the Virtual Discipline and Attendance Policy. Even if your student is attending in-person, we need all students and parents to be familiar with this policy, in case of quarantine. Students will be emailed instructions on their Bishop Moore Email on how to sign the policy.
Parents will find the waiver in the WebForm area of the Parent Portal.

Important Links and Other Information

The entire Student Handbook can be reviewed at the link, above, but we wanted to bring your attention to a few changes to the following items in our handbook.

Masks must be BMC-appropriate and are limited to solid-colors only. Masks must not have any logos or text; the only exception to this rule is the BMC school logo and/or Hornet. Masks with exhalation valves or vents are not permitted, per current CDC recommendations. Additional information about Masks/Face Coverings from the CDC can be found here:

  • Students are required to wear school-issued lanyard with current BMC ID at all times while on BMC property.

  • All BMC jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc. must be in school colors (Black, Gold, Gray or White ONLY); other colors are not permitted to be worn on campus during the school day.
