You can give me no greater consolation nor render greater service to your neighbor than to place yourself in a condition to serve him for a long time.
St Vincent de Paul
Happy Spring!
Volunteers are the lifeblood of all that we do. The Spirit of St. Vincent de Paul invites the Society and all who participate in our mission to offer personal relationships with and service to people in need, and our volunteers do that with great presence and compassion. Thank you! This month we’re highlighting some special groups who have helped recently, at our Stores, our Pantry, and Holy Family’s homeless ministries. Working together and listening to each other provides more than just a service; it provides hope and opportunity. Also, we have been blessed with artistic friends who are offering food for the soul as well. When we start with personal relationships, the service we provide becomes a connection that enhances individual dignity and acceptance – essential foundations for growth and self-sufficiency. Thank you for your wonderful availability! If you haven’t already, we invite you to join us sometime to reach out, in a way that’s best for you, to those who need a connection at a difficult time.
Help Line
Because of you your generosity, our Conferences have begun to share resources, looking for ways to get many more people involved. While answering calls and emails on our Help Line from people all over the city who need assistance, they will refer them to the Conference or parish in their neighborhood as well as to other service agencies in the area. We look forward to seeing this new approach grow as volunteers find — or even become —experts in what help is available for those in need. We know they will also find their own spirituality grow as they become friends through service. If this sounds interesting to you, please send an email to volunteers@svdpomaha.com

I am a volunteer in the closet at the Holy Family Center location. I have been amazed at the beautiful handiwork of the blankets and warm hats donated for our homeless friends who have visited us at the closet. When we offer these beautiful crocheted and knitted items to those in need I feel so honored to be able to give them away, and I always wish that the person who so lovingly made each beautiful piece could be there with us and see the faces of the each of the receivers as their handmade gift is given away.
We are so thankful for all the donations! and so are the homeless people whom we are honored to serve.
