A NOTE OF THANKS FROM THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR
|
|
Dear Community,
As I look back on the most challenging year, I am struck by how much Redwood City Public Library has accomplished in service of YOU, our community members. In the spirit of gratitude, here is a brief list of what I am thankful for:
- YOU! Without you attending our virtual events, picking up your curbside holds and craft kits, and generally supporting all things RCPL, where would we be? Thank you for sticking by us through it all.
-
Our Curbside Service team! Since June, we’ve delivered books to somewhere near 10,000 of you. Beginning next week, we will be expanding curbside service to our branch libraries. You can place your holds and make your appointments here.
-
Our Youth Services team! We've completely reinvented how we provide programs and services to you. Our Youth Services team have done so with great energy, care and creativity. I’m excited about December programs, including the Winter Reading Challenge and our international Holiday Celebrations Around You.
-
Project READ, our literacy program serving adults, children and families has handed out countless Second Harvest meals to enrolled families. Visit their website to find out what great things they are up to.
-
Friends of the Redwood City Public Library has creatively pivoted the way they sell their books, RCPL Bees honey and how to take donations with their touchless events. These sales sponsor Library programs such as Little Learners, Craft Club, and more. Thank you Friends!
-
The Redwood City Public Library Foundation continues their campaigns in support of the Library with its funding of programs such as Bridging the Digital Divide and our future Downtown Library Makerspace. Giving Tuesday is coming up, I encourage you to give here.
-
Human Library is a program that encapsulates our Service Priorities and this year we are offering it virtually during United Against Hate Week. I’m thankful to our volunteer Books and staff for embarking on this new adventure on December 5.
With thanks,
Derek Wolfgram
Library Director

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION
|
|
Giving Tuesday is one week away – a good time to consider helping the Redwood City Libraries by donating to the Redwood City Library Foundation. The Foundation has set up a Resiliency fund to support our libraries today and tomorrow. Donating to the fund makes an immediate impact in the lives of adults and children in the community by ensuring that library programs continue even while the buildings remain closed. The Foundation Board will match the first $5,000 in donations received before 12/31/2020.
We encourage you to support the Foundation and the Library and recognize December 1, the National Day of Giving, by donating to the RCLF. Please give at: www.rclfdn.org/donate
