The Resource - September 2022
DSP Recognition Week

Direct Support Professional (DSP) appreciation week is September 11th-17th, 2022. DSP's are an invaluable asset to those they assist. They provide assistance with ADL's, are a source of companionship, and make our communities a better place. Thank a DSP this week!

THANK YOU, DSP's!
AuSM presents the Autistic Community Summit
The Autism Society of Minnesota is hosting their 5th annual Autistic Community Summit on September 17th, 2022 at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain. This summit is an excellent resource to share and learn about Autism, as well as connect with others in the community.
Webinars on the ongoing workforce shortages for HCBS and PCA services
Many direct care professionals love their work, but more than a third of these direct care professionals leave the profession every year because of low wages, lack of benefits or other factors. One way to give these professionals more say over their work environment is for them to become business partners through the employee-owned cooperatives model. Join DHS and community business experts to learn how to develop new, or transition existing businesses to, employee-owned cooperatives. Webinars run September 14th and October 4th.
Electronic visit verification (EVV) info session for caregivers and members
The Center for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) will soon require providers to utilize Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) systems to ensure people are receiving the services they need. These online training sessions offered by the Department of Human Resources will provide information on EVV, as well as an opportunity to ask questions. This online training runs on October 3rd and October 6th.
