Voting Rights
The Arc Minnesota has put together a series of informational videos that cover voter rights. These videos provide great resources for both disabled and able bodied individuals. The next statewide election takes place on November 8th, 2022.
National Disability Employment Awareness Month
Observed annually in October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices.

From the US Department of Labor Blog, 'Disability is and always has been part of the rich diversity of our nation, and, by extension, our workforce. During NDEAM, we celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities, past and present. We also commit to ensuring all workers, including workers with disabilities, have equal opportunity to gain skills and put them to work in inclusive, supportive workplaces going forward.'
Webinar: Developing a Support Plan
This monthly webinar series focuses on different types of foundational knowledge and skills for effective support planning. This month’s focus is on consumer-directed community supports (CDCS).

DHS will collect questions and topic recommendations that arise during the sessions to create online, self-paced training modules about support planning after the series is complete. They will also provide the most up-to-date information, resources and initiatives about support planning.

This will include contributions from policy leads from the following DHS areas:
  • Aging and Adult Services
  • Behavioral Health
  • Disability Services

This webinar will take place on October 26th from 10am to 11:30am.
Fire Safety and Prevention Virtual Chat
Have you wondered what you would do if a fire happened at your home? How would you be alerted? How can you keep yourself, your family, guests and pets safe? How would you communicate with the fire department and other emergency responders?

Join the MN DHS Deaf and Hard of Hearing Division On November 10th from 6:30-8pm for a virtual chat to learn more about fire prevention, what to do if there is a fire, and what happens after a fire.
Earlier this month, some of our staff attended the St. Louis County Health and Human Services Conference in Duluth, MN. We spent our time there learning about a multitude of topics. We're looking forward to taking what we learned and applying it to our everyday practices so that we can continue to serve our clients, families and workers to the best of our ability.
