2023 is going to be grand

Greetings!
Happy New Year!
2023 is going to be exciting: We are going to open the Children’s and Teen/Tween Rooms on the renovated third floor sometime soon. We'll announce opening plans shortly. As they say, "watch this space."
That's short-term; we are also planning long term. In several weeks we will share our three-year Strategic Plan with you. You may recall that in September we sent you a Community Survey asking for your thoughts on all things library, from our space and collections, to our services and programs. More than 800 of you responded, and we've built the plan around your comments as well as countless stakeholder interviews. The plan is both realistic and challenging; its goal is to improve the services we offer the community.
Two volunteer organizations who do so much to help our library serve you are the Friends of the Hoboken Public Library and the Hoboken Public Library Foundation. They have raised funds, provided assistance in countless ways, sponsored our Family FUNdays and Museum Pass Program, and so much more. To celebrate their success, they are holding a very special event the evening of January 26, and you are invited. For details on the evening’s festivities, please click here to send us an email.
It's a new year, and it can also be a new you. We've assembled a reading list of books that may help you keep your New Year's Resolutions. Click here to check it out.
My colleagues and I wish you a Very Happy and Successful 2023.
Regards,
Jennie Pu
Library Director

Authentically Izzy
by Pepper Basham
|
In this charming epistolary romance, a book-loving librarian is enrolled in an online matchmaking service, and embarks on a journey toward love that starts with emails to a quirky islander ...
As Izzy says, "I’ve met my book-quoting Mr. Right, and our correspondence has been almost too good to be true. But Brodie lives across an ocean. And just the other day, a perfectly nice author named Eli came into the library and asked me out for coffee. I feel a rom-com movie with a foreboding disaster nipping at my heels."

Mercury Rising
by R.W.W. Greene
|
The year is 1975 - Robert Oppenheimer has invented the Atomic Engine, the first human has walked on the moon, and Jet Carson and the Eagle Seven have sacrificed their lives to stop alien invaders.
Brooklyn, however, just wants to keep his head down, pay his mother's rent, and earn a little scratch of his own. Simple pleasures! But life is about to get real complicated when a killer with a baseball bat and a mysterious box of 8-track tapes sets him up for murder. So, his choices are limited - rot away in prison or sign up to defend the planet from the assholes who dropped a meteorite on Cleveland.
