INTRODUCTION

I am the Independent Party of Oregon nominee for Oregon State Representative, House District 29 (no Republican candidate), ensuring voters in House District 29 will have a meaningful choice this November. Today, I am a small business owner and serve on the Forest Grove City Council — a 30-year resident and life-long Oregonian.

I am running to address the rising cost of living, the growing tax burden on working families and small businesses, poor educational outcomes, housing affordability, and the need for a stronger economy.

Practical leadership. Local voices. Better Outcomes.

Acknowledgement From Outside The District

Mr. Schimmel,

I am not a resident in your community. However, I wanted to reach out to let you know how much I appreciated the comments you made about education funding in Oregon in a recent Willamette Week article, "Why Don't Oregon Student Outcomes Match Spending?".

The ever-growing list of unfunded mandates and all the regulations that continue to creep into our finite resources are the topics that keep superintendents and building principals away from the work we know we need to do to make real impacts within our districts' schools.

Please know that from far away in Eastern Oregon, I read your comments and I felt seen.

Thank you for paying attention to the real picture and what's going on.

Sincerely,

Beth Burton, Superintendent

Stanfield School District

Make no mistake: the incumbent and Democratic Party of Oregon will use all means possible to defeat an Independent and protect an incumbent member of its caucus. Expect out of state contributions to pay for mailers, phone calls, advertising, and attempts to define who I am through a political label.

I will bring an implementation-focused approach centered on outcomes—design policy with the people expected to implement it, fund it responsibly, and measure whether it actually improves people’s lives.
