DuPage Ranked #1 in both Health Outcomes and Health Factors

DuPage County has once again been ranked the healthiest county in Illinois by the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps. The annual rankings assess counties on health factors (health behaviors, clinical care, social/economic factors and physical environment) and health outcomes (quality and length of life). Robert Wood Johnson sponsors the assessment, offering communities insight into how they are performing relative to other counties, and where there are opportunities for advancement.  Click here for the complete 2022 State report.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is a time to raise awareness of those living with mental or behavioral health issues and to help reduce the stigma so many experience. Click here to see Mayo Clinic’s suggestions for ending stigma.

One factor included in the County Health Rankings is a self-reported number of mentally unhealthy days. The overall health of our community is due in part to strong countywide partnerships like Impact DuPage and the Behavioral Health Collaborative, both of which work to implement data informed strategies improving quantity and quality of behavioral health services available locally.

Trusted relationships with primary care providers offer individuals struggling with mental illness or substance use disorder pathways to connect to treatment, medication, and support. Increasingly, primary care providers are embedding mental health providers into their clinical teams, a valuable resource for our Access DuPage members, all of whom have a primary care medical home through which they can receive low cost primary care, medication (through Access DuPage) and referrals. To provide additional support to our members, our website now features links to other low cost community behavioral health services. Click here and let us know if there are other resources we should add!

Funding support for behavioral health services at DuPage Health Coalition comes from a host of funders, including the Bloomingdale Township Mental Health Board for their commitment to the prevention and treatment of mental illness, and substance abuse.
Generosity Changes Everything

Giving DuPage Days is an online donation event supporting 95+ local nonprofits, including DuPage Health Coalition. This year gifts made to DHC will be used to purchase gas cards for our patients, to help them access the health care they need and continue to work and care for their families.  We are all feeling the sting of higher prices at the pump, but families with limited income are especially hard hit, forcing impossible choices when paychecks can’t cover basic necessities. #FuelingHealthAccess, your gift will go directly to our members, opening doors to health.
