Good morning Union Vale,
Yesterday we were informed by Marcus Molinaro that we were granted $100,000 (the maximum amount we could request) to upgrade Godfrey Park playground! This is fantastic news and as you know, it will enable us to improve a park that desperately needs improvement.
Next Steps
The town board will need a small working committee of local residents to review and recommend a playground design. You may also want to discuss changes to the park to better fit the current usage. Long time On The Green resident, Mike Myers shared some excellent ideas to get better usage of Godfrey for all age groups. If a few members of our community would raise their hands to work on this project, it will mean a more customized result. If not, the town board working with staff, will create a design to share, but we feel local residents using the park regularly will produce the best results.
Initial Working Group Meeting Next Tuesday, July 26 at 6:00 PM
I am proposing an initial meeting with the working group for next Tuesday, at Town Hall at 6:00 pm. If anyone is interested in working on this project, please join us! I have the file of playground contacts, inspiration books, price quotes, etc. that we used to complete the grant request and those sources will give you a great place to start.
When you have finished with your playground proposal, we will share it with the rest of our community at a town board meeting. Everyone will be excited to see a new look in Godfrey!
