Notes from the Chair:
Early Voting Complete –
Election Day is Tuesday, March 3 - Coming Together

Here are the early voting turnout results for the Primary: 1118 Democrats Voted!
WOW what a great voting effort so far. In 2018 total Democratic Primary turnout was 1031 votes and in 2016, the last Presidential Primary, it was 1141 votes( highest ever) so you have almost eclipsed those numbers just in early voting. Let’s set a new record and more than double 2016 turnout. You can do it by voting next Tuesday, March 3, at any of the 11 polling places in Kendall County. Make your voice heard and remember if you don’t vote you can’t complain.

Also, please remember that after the Primary, we must all come together to support our progressive agenda and the Democratic candidates who can stop the outrageous attacks on the values of our nation. To get Democrats elected in Texas and turning Texas Blue will require a lot of money and a lot of work by all of us. Sitting on the sidelines is not an option. Please join the Kendall County Democratic Party and the Boerne Area Democrats and volunteer to do mailings, block walk, phone bank and text your fellow Democrats to get out and vote. Help a Democratic candidate that you admire by donating your time and money.
Remember, it is time to make our presence know so when you go vote, in the Primary don’t hesitate to politely announce:

“I’m a Democrat and I want to vote in the Democratic Primary”

  Kevin Henning
Kendall County Democratic Party Chair

The Delegate Selection Process
Kendall County Democratic Party Convention
Saturday, March 21, 1:00-4:00pm, Kronkosky Place

Since ours is a small convention (as compared to, say, Bexar County), County Chair Kevin Henning will propose that we operate as a “Committee of the Whole.” This way, we can vote as a group on the delegates we want to send to the State Convention (June 2-4, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio) and only break out into Precinct Conventions if absolutely necessary. As much as feasible, our 11 delegates need to have the broadest possible diversity (gender, ethnicity, LGBTQ). After some initial remarks and verification of eligible attendees, Kevin will ask everyone who wants to attend the State Convention to stand. If there are 11 or fewer standing, each person standing will have two minutes to explain why they want to be a delegate. Then Kevin will propose that we elect those individuals by acclamation.

If 12-15 individuals stand, the Convention will take a 10-minute break, and the group will decide amongst themselves which 11 will attend. Then each of the 11 will have two minutes to speak, then Kevin will call a vote.

If more than 15 individuals want to attend the State Convention, we will need to break out into modified Precinct Conventions to select delegates. Smaller precincts will be grouped with larger ones; each group should represent approximately the same number of Democratic voters. This breakout process will be further refined after we receive primary results. The nominations of each precinct grouping then goes to the Nominating Committee, who compiles all the information and submits it to the Convention as a whole for a vote.

Delegates are also elected proportionately to the number of supporters for a presidential candidate (as determined by the results of the March 3 primary election). For example, if Joe Biden receives 36% of the vote in Kendall County, four Kendall delegates would “declare” for Biden. We will have more information soon from TxDems on how exactly this part of the process works.

Thanks to all of you who have volunteered already. I’m still looking for someone to fill these roles:
·         Convention Secretary ( easy  job; just a fill-in-the-blank form)
·         Hospitality (light snacks, a few decorations; nothing fancy or expensive
As always, call/email with questions (or to volunteer to help! )
