I recently returned from Kenya and one of our goals was to search for a bigger house for the Maisha Girls Safe House. The current house is small and a rental. We were continuing our search from last year, April 2024.

It's not easy to:

• find neighbors that will be okay with 60 people living next door.
• find a house that is large enough for Maisha & still in our price range.
• close enough to the current office & other services needed to serve the girls.

Flo and I are standing in front of the house that the Management Team and I feel is a good fit for the Maisha Safe House.

The current house is just plain wrong and makes the journey to healing more difficult because of the overcrowding.

We need your help to make this new house a reality for Maisha and the girls.

Here is where YOU come in!

The cost of the house, taxes, advocate fees, interior painting, moving expenses, and a few security modifications come to around $150,000.

Last year we had established a restricted account with $88,000 for the purchase of a larger house. That leaves a balance of $62,000 for the new house.

Good news! We already have two very generous donations of $15,000 and $20,000 to start our campaign.

Now we only need to raise a minimum of $27,000 by the middle of August.

If we go overour goal, there is a non-functional solar panel & system for the house that could be updated. There is an empty lot across the street that could be used for green space for the girls and a garden. An additional shower could be installed.

I believe we can do this! But it is going to take all of us. Every donation matters and adds up.

We still need money for operations, so if you are a regular donor and would like to give to the new house, we hope you will do so in addition to your annual or monthly gift for operations. Annual donations for operations are usually needed Oct-Dec. Thank you for your understanding.
