Warm Hearts Abound

Your support throughout 2017 has improved the safety and health of more than 10,000 children and families. Every single day we’re thankful for the continued generosity that allows children to heal, parents to learn and families to thrive.
But, when the holidays arrive, our hearts are filled with even more inspiration and gratitude as you, our community, stretches its capacity beyond belief to ensure our children and families have not only a safe and healthy — but a joyous — holiday season.

Individuals, families and companies are making dreams come true after sponsoring 500 youth in our programs. Thanks to their generosity, every child will receive gifts from their wish list! Furthermore, thousands of families in our care are able to "shop" at our annual Gift Gallery. The room is overflowing with new gifts to ensure our community-based families have presents to enjoy this year. Thank you to every single person who contributed to this unbelievable collection of toys, clothes, household items and tools.

We are so grateful for supporters like you who continue to spread holiday cheer to those who need it most. The Dickens Carolers, a quartet of Northwest Missouri State University students, even serenaded shoppers at the Maryville Hy-Vee while collecting toys and donations. They braved the cold temperatures to support 45 foster families!

Thank you to everyone who has shared their time, talents or treasures with us so far this holiday season! Your generosity and compassion truly warms the hearts of our staff, children and families. We’re looking forward to a safe and healthy new year with you by our side.
Our friends at Cargill have been hosting a special annual holiday celebration on our Spofford Campus for more than 10 years. On December 7, foster families gathered for pizza, games and a surprise visit from Santa himself.
We are still accepting financial contributions to help provide presents for new admissions and holiday meals for those in the community. Special thanks to everyone who has already donated!
Making a Friend for Life

Natalie and John are regulars on our Gillis Campus. What started out as participation in a monthly game night and volunteering at some special events turned into becoming life-changing mentors for one 12-year-old boy.

“We get so much out of it, knowing that he has a support system and reminding us that this world is so much bigger than our little block in Prairie Village.”
Free Community Mindfulness Classes

We all know that self-care is incredibly important to ensuring we have the capacity to give everything we can at work and at home. That’s why we partnered with  Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness to offer a weekly community mindfulness class. You're invited to start, build, maintain or deepen your mindfulness practice with us. No experience is necessary — newcomers are welcome and encouraged to attend! Last month, 31 individuals including children joined us. We hope to see you there!

  • What: Free Mindfulness Practice (guided meditations, gentle yoga, discussions, etc.)
  • When: Tuesdays from 78 p.m.
  • Where: Cornerstones of Care — Spofford Campus (9700 Grandview Rd, KCMO)
