KYTN Services

Kansas Youth Transition Network: We are offering enhanced Youth Transition Services throughout Wyandotte County. We understand that your plan for transition into post-high school life doesn’t just start when you’re in high school. We work with youth ages 10 and up to:

  • identify interests and strengths
  • assist in self-advocacy development
  • support parents and youth in IEP and 504 meetings
  • become active in their communities

Are you interested in supporting our work?

Have you considered how you can be involved in expanding access to independent living in Douglas, Jefferson, Franklin and now Wyandotte and Johnson Counties?

If so, we would love to have you as a financial partner! Our work to remove barriers to independent living for people with disabilities is never ending. Progress is always being made but barriers still exist, including:

  • Architectural or Physical Barriers: barriers to physical buildings or other spaces that limit the unhindered movement of people who use wheelchairs or other mobility supports
  • Technological or Communication Barriers: barriers to accessing web content, gaming, virtual meetings, phone apps, forms, written material and other types of communication and technology
  • Systemic/Policy Barriers: barriers that exclude people with disabilities from participation in programs, services, employment opportunities, community events, etc.
  • Attitudinal Barriers: misconceptions and negative or uninformed attitudes that limit the ability of a person with a disability to enjoy full access to their communities, homes, places of employment and worship, recreation opportunities etc.

Through our programs and services, our advocacy efforts and our involvement in our communities, we work daily to educate others, support our consumers and break these barriers to independent living, civil rights and full and equal access to the option of living a vibrant, healthy, involved and active life of ones choosing.
