A brave new world
Over the last year, we have really had to change and adapt (if we didn't, we would have gone under). It has given us a whole new lease of life and the support we have had for all the new things is phenomenal - we are so appreciative.

Our restaurants may be empty but our online based tastings, cookalongs and quizzes are enabling us to connect with a much broader range of people all over the UK and bring some enjoyment and fun into people's homes. These will be a permanent feature of Lunya, they won't stop when lockdown finishes, as they are too popular and too much fun, especially for those, for whatever reason, cannot get to us. Yesterday, we did a burnt basque cheesecake cookalong; it was a great success and it was brilliant to see so many people joining in from all over the UK, plus New York! In the coming months, we have events on 3-4 days a week (including many private events for companies, sports groups, friendship groups and more). Read more further down about new cookalong sessions we are running.

Valentines Day is upon us, and this weekend is your last chance to order and ensure delivery in time for Valentines Day. Our tasting events and cookalong sessions make great gifts.

Next week, we will launch our Mothers Day cook-at-home meal packs and gifts, so keep an eye out for those

And thank you for all the wonderful messages of support for Elaine this last week; they really gave us hope. Her chemotherapy starts this week and Elaine will be taking it easy for the next 6 months (mind you I have been telling her that she has been doing that for the last few years!). I'm shielding as a consequence, so will be keeping in touch via this newsletter and our online events - you don't get rid of me that easily!

Thank you all so much for helping to get Lunya to where we are today, your support is truly fabulous and really appreciated by the whole team x

PS. Thanks to our good friends at Edge Worldwide Logistics, we have serrano ham leaving spain towards the end of this week (we hope!), and should be with us a week or so after that. If you are waiting for your pre-order of a leg, gift set or 1KG boneless gift set, it isn't far away now. Thanks for your patience
Last chance to book a place on Friday's Abba-themed Spanish Food, Drink & Music Quiz! (Last 12 places left)
Ticket sales have been brilliant for this. We have a few more left, so don't delay if you plan to book as we expect to shortly sell out. If you have attended our monthly Spanish Food Drink & Music Quiz in Lunyalita, you will know what great fun they are. Chilled, informal, great food and drink to taste as part of the questions and ending with a music round, Flamenco style. If you want something that is just great fun and sociable, then this is for you! All in the comfort of your own home. Our live music round will be our master Flamenco guitarist Alex Mackenzie, playing 10 Abba songs Flamenco style, culminating with a huge sing and dance-along, wearing your best attempt at Abba fancy dress or just your old 70’s glad rags - or whatever you want. It is £25 a person and you get all the food and drink for the quiz, plus a make your own deli platter of goodies and bottle of wine (per 2 people) and entrance into the quiz. The quiz will be on Friday 12th February at 7pm. Come and join us for a world's first!

We still have a range of Zoom based events during February - April. We send you the food and drink and a Zoom link and we have exactly the same fun and experience that you would have upstairs at Lunyalita! They are a great way to do something sociable. We limit the places on each one to make sure they have the same feel as our regular tastings. All you need is a phone, tablet or computer to take part. We've run a lot of these and the feedback was exceptional (we can do all of these and more for private corporate or family and friend events). For more details and to book, follow the links below:

We have been serving this in the restaurant since we opened. This is a coarse, solid pate loaf from Northern Catalunya. Perfect eaten sliced, on its own, or to make a sandwich, too. We now have it on offer at a price of £4.25. It is a superb fresh pate and brilliant value. Check it out here.

Tarta de Santiago
This world famous almond tart hails from the city of Santiago de Compostella. Made with the very best almonds and always decorated with the crest of St. James. We have them on special offer of just £11.95 a cake (normally £15). it lasts perfectly and freezes superbly, too - so great for a family of 10 and single-person household. The quality of these (as served in our restaurant) is superb.

Frozen Cook-at-home Meals
Another lockdown, so these are back, including the perennial favourites of our Cottage Pie and Lasagne, made to Peter's mum's recipe that he grew up with - and look at him now! Plus our Banquet and lots of other restaurant favourites - ready for you to cook or finish off at home. Check them out here
Free meals for NHS & other carers
At times like this, we feel it is more important than ever to step up our efforts to get free meals to those who are making huge personal sacrifices in providing care and support to people who need it. We have donated just on 6,000 free meals so far. Our aim is to get it to 10,000 this year. It is something we take great pride in doing. We are going to provide free deli packs as well as meals this year. We fund this ourselves, but if you would like to get involved to help us extend it further, when you order online, there is an option to fund a carer’s meal.
Lockdown Opening Hours
The current opening hours are:

Hanover St Deli: Monday – Saturday 11-6; Sunday 11-5

Hot food take-away: Friday 5-8pm; Saturday 2pm – 8pm; Sunday 1-5pm

Online site: 24/7

We do not have anyone able to answer our phones, if you have any enquiries relating to the deli, online or take-away please email [email protected]
And finally .....
Don't forget, if you are struggling to get a supermarket delivery slot or just worried about going to the supermarket, we have great supplies of lockdown staples: pasta, flour (plain, self-raising and organic bread flour), pasta sauces and so much more. Better than Amazon and supermarkets and we fully pay all our taxes! Also, when you place an online order and there is anything that you can’t get hold of in your local shops, please let us now as we are right opposite a big Tesco and can pop over and get things for you (even toilet paper!).

Your support really does keep us going. That is why we are still here and forever in your debt. Your generosity in thinking about us and supporting us is so much appreciated. We can't wait to be fully open again and welcoming you back. Thank you, our very best wishes & stay safe.

Peter & Elaine, and the whole of our team x
