NOVEMBER 2024

The change in season from fall to winter is always an incredible reminder of the hope we have in Christ. Our winters can be long, harsh and dark, but because of the birth of Jesus and his life, which was sacrificed for us, we can have great hope. That regardless of our situation or circumstance, the risen Christ is with us, and we will never have to face another “winter” alone. GOD DELIGHTS & BRINGS HOPE.

Delightfully Sober Lives

House of Hope graduate, Mike Lemmons, has essentially rewired himself into a free man over the past 2-years. In June, 2024, Mike celebrated 3-years of sobriety. Following his graduation, Mike moved into the Phase 3 house and took a staff position at the House of Hope as the trade skills supervisor. Things continued to fall into place as he worked on rebuilding his life as a sober man.

Highlights include getting new teeth, removing the Intoxalock from his vehicle, being discharged from probation, getting a new job and setting a date for his wedding. Mike married his beloved bride, Tammy, on November 9.

As a full time laborer for Carlson Electric, Mike is learning the trade. He’s receiving benefits and a weekly paycheck. We are grateful that Carlson Electric believes in Mike and offered him the employment opportunity.

We have seen how far Mike has come from when he entered the program and by the grace of God and Mike’s sheer determination, he is leading a sober life. Congratulations Mike!

Mike and Tammy

Dan Lester, another House of Hope graduate, has taken a staff position as the Overnight Supervisor. Dan is another example of a man who has broken the cycle of addiction and is living a sober life, free from drugs and alcohol. Dan is living in the resident house, participates in daily devotions and is a back-up for the lead mentor from time to time. We are very proud of Dan’s progress and dedication to his new life and desire to serve the ministry in a staff position which also includes Workshop Supervisor.

Non-profit volunteering added to curriculum

As a way to give back, the men at the House of Hope would like to volunteer for non-profits in the community. Essentially they are bringing the trade skills they are learning in the workshop into the community. The volunteer work will be solely for non-profits and will take place in the afternoons, 2-3 weekdays per week. Please contact Al Kiwazek at 715-699-1124 to inquire about this.

Year-end Contribution Statements

By January 31, 2025, those who made a donation in 2024 to the Greater Hayward House of Hope will receive a year-end statement reflecting their contributions.

The Greater Hayward House of Hope is a registered 501 (c) (3) nonprofit (EIN: 84-4955418)

I pray that hope continues to reside in the hearts and lives of the men we have the privilege to serve here at the Greater Hayward House of Hope. That they too would find great hope in knowing that we (Executive Director, board and volunteers) are with them, and that they are not alone.

Thank you for helping us bring hope to men who are recovering from the confines of addiction.

Thanksgiving blessings to you,

Al Kiwazek, Executive Director & the HOH Board of Directors
