We Have Some BIG Announcements

Aurora Swain appointed by NC General Assembly!

Please help us congratulate Aurora's appointment by the General Assembly as a voting member of the B-3 Interagency Council's. In 2017, the General Assembly established the Council between the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHHS) and the NC Department of Public Instruction (DPI), charging them with creating a vision of accountability and continuum of care for birth - grade three system of early education. Aurora is looking forward to continuing the work alongside representatives from the House, Senate, and the joint Council co-chairs from DHHS and DPI.

Aurora is known for sharing compelling stories of the real struggles children who live in poverty face every day and advocating fiercely for their teachers. Her term through 2023 means she will impact change at the state level, uniquely amplifying isolated voices of Hispanic children and their families. She would like the House of Representatives and everyone involved in this process.

Families First's new partner - ParentChild+

The initial training is complete! After a year of listening to our families, we began the strategic shift to ParentChild+ (PC+), a home-visiting program presenting strong new evidence and value-added alignment with our mission.

We want to thank our families, individual donors, the Truist Foundation, Cabarrus COVID-19 Response Fund, United Way of Central Carolinas, Child Care Services Association Relief Fund and their supporters, Kannapolis City, for their support and ParentChild+ for a fantastic virtual training and conference.

At the conference, we learned about the new core virtual learning aspects and their 2025 vision for Race Equity Framing for Choosing Books in Early Childhood Education. Please read more on page 3 - PC+ Core Overview and Book Equity

Our Immersion preschools are open but other programs, such as ESL classes, remain virtual. Learn more about our summer, our families, and partners who strengthened us through these times.
