WE MISS YOU!
Staff members have found creative ways to communicate with visitors who can't come inside the building. Check out this sidewalk chalk art by Leslie Sims!
Rotary Partnership
The Rotary Club of Goochland is conducting a Cleaning Supplies Drive. These household items are particularly important to clients during this health crisis, because cleaning supplies aren't covered by SNAP benefits. We're so thankful for Rotary's help in filling this crucial need! If you wish to participate, you can donate on Saturday, May 30th at these collection sites: Food Lion (Centerville), Food Lion (Fairground Road), or the Goochland YMCA. Thank you to E-Z Box Storage (Richmond) for providing storage units during the drive.
Volunteer Opportunities
While we aren't resuming regular volunteering just yet, you can volunteer for special projects. If you are interested, please email Diane Reale. As needs arise, Diane will contact you with details.
Helping from Home
Steve Fram assisted us from home by calculating some important values. He helped us to determine how many meals $1 can provide to families who visit our pantry. Can you guess what the answer is? *Picture taken pre COVID-19.*
Keeping the Shelves Stocked
As many of you know, our Annual Food Drive is postponed until the Fall due to COVID-19. In response to this, we've seen an outpouring of support from the community! The Food Pantry received 16,856 pounds of food from the community in April. This is all thanks to our amazing volunteers and community members who have rallied their churches, neighborhoods, and more to support us. We can't thank you enough!
Medical Clinic
Our Medical Clinic is providing health care to our patients in need. Volunteer Dr. Michael Joynes is seen here providing telecare for our medical patients.

Dental Clinic
Volunteer Dentists Marotta, Murchie, and Murphy have all seen GoochlandCares patients with dental emergencies in their offices. Dental Coordinator Katie Alvis is seen here thanking Dr. Murphy thanking him for helping our patients.
Training Opportunities
Our very own Carol Dunlap, MSW, has offered to conduct a virtual conversation about stress, resilience, and Trauma- Informed Care (TIC). We will also be sharing updates about GoochlandCares. Our volunteers are welcome to participate through GoToMeeting!
The Chickahominy Health Department is offering a Virtual Rapid REVIVE Training . It's only 10 minutes and the Health Department will provide a single dose of Narcan free of charge, which could save someone's life during an opioid overdose.
Children's Activity
If you or the children in your life are interested in coloring, we would love to display artwork in our windows for visitors to see! Completed masterpieces can be placed in the black dropbox outside the front door or mailed to us at 2999 River Road West, Goochland, VA 23063. We can't wait to see them!
Happy Memorial Day!
GoochlandCares will be closed Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen Tuesday, May 26th at 9:00AM. Have a safe Memorial Day weekend!
